As usual, we’ll be introducing you all to our artisans/authors/artists, sponsors, and activities for the Market every week as we get closer to the big day.
Please allow me to introduce to you one of our new artisians, TaffyPaints. Taffy is a freelance artist based in South Carolina.. Her paintings keep to a very colorful palette, and she likes to play with texture, lights and shadows. The work will vary from subject to subject, from landscapes, to portraits, to surrealism, allowing Taffy to express different ideas and emotions in each piece.

Tell us about the geeky goodness you’ll be bringing to the next Geekery Market! TaffyPaints will be bringing to the Geekery Market original acrylic paintings, art prints of the originals as well as some fan art, stickers, keychains and more!
How did you get started doing what you do? I have been creating for some time. The style really started when I wanted a specific tattoo for myself. Then I started getting ideas and also recommendations to do certain characters. Then it just kind of got out of control and escalated from there. I’ve yet to get the tattoo. Its been 2 years now!
What’s an item you are bringing that you are really excited about? I’m really excited about my collection of my “Stitched Broken Dolls”. What first became just a small series of plushies has grown to a collection of dolls that I hope reflect many personalities, small stories, and a connection into the paintings.
What else would you like everyone to know about your wares? Due to the style of some of the art, a lot of people think I got inspired by Coraline which, unfortunately, is not the case. I’ve actually never seen the movie. These were just supposed to reflect the idea that they are hand-made and broken, but still beautiful and unique in their own weird way.
What’s your favorite holiday story? During spooky season and the Xmas holiday, I always turn to Hocus Pocus, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and Harry Potter..

Come see us on Saturday, November 4, 2023 from 10am to 4PM at the Cabarrus Arena & Events Center – 4751 NC Highway 49 (Event Center B). The event is FREE to the public, but we are requesting a donation of canned goods or cash which goes to our charity, Second Harvest Metrolina . Please note that this location does charge for parking: $8 per car, $15 per van, $25 per bus (credit/debit only). See you there!
