The Geekery Market Spotlight: Rey Nichols

Welcome to The Geekery Market (formerly the Muggles Market). We are excited for our next event – just in time for all your geeky holiday shopping needs! As usual, we’ll be introducing you all to our artisans/authors/artists, sponsors, and activities for the Market every week as we get closer to the big day.

Please allow me to introduce to you one of our artisans, Rey Nichols. Rey Nichols, a native of the Midwest, is the love child of an Eldritch horror with more apostrophes than letters in its name and the front person of a forgotten 80’s rock band she can’t quite remember the name of. Only two degrees away from Kevin Bacon, when Rey is not busy trying to evade capture from monster hunters, she spends her time writing urban fantasy and sci-fi detective noir.

Answers to our 5 Geeky Questions

Tell us about the geeky goodness you’ll be bringing to the next Geekery Market! I will have the first two books in my urban fantasy comedy horror series, Apollo Grant, as well as the first book in my new paranormal investigation mystery series, Until Death. Handmade bookmarks, book sleeves and totes will also be available, and make great gifts for the upcoming holiday season.

How did you get started doing what you do?I’ve always enjoyed telling stories, but it wasn’t until 2019 when I started making a go at writing professionally. After many attempts, and some savvy networking, I was able to release my first published novella with Mocha Memoirs press, titled Apollo Grant, the following year.

What’s an item you are bringing that you are really excited about? My newest book, Until Death. It was a slight deviation out of the fantasy comfort zone I normally write in, and I’m really proud of how it turned out and am thrilled to be able to share this ghostly tale with everyone.

What else would you like everyone to know about your wares? WAll of my books are part of ongoing series, and I will keep writing them until my publishers tell me to quit. My bookmarks, sleeves and totes are all made out of cotton fabric, and sewn by me. I do my best to pick out fabrics and patterns that appeal to a wide range of people within both my reader base, and general geekdom.

What’s your favorite holiday story? The movie Scrooged….The Ghost of Christmas Present is one of my favorite characters.

Where you can find Rey Nichols on the interwebs!
