Answers to our 5 Geeky Questions

Tell us about the geeky goodness you’ll be bringing to the next Geekery Market! I am a multi-genre speculative fiction author, and I will have copies of my novels at the Geekery Market! From high fantasy to urban fantasy/litRPG to Gaslamp to stories about dogs, there is something for everyone…books make great gifts!

How did you get started doing what you do?My mother would have said that I started writing stories from the moment I could hold a pencil. After 15 years of working on them, my first high fantasy novel was published in 2017 and I haven’t stopped since. I have always been a storyteller and I find the most fascinating parts of stories to be the characters and how they interact. I’m also an interpreter in my DayJob (ASL/English, been signing since I was a kid), so language and culture interactions also fascinate me and inform my work.

What’s an item you are bringing that you are really excited about? People ask me which of my books is my favorite, and while that is like picking a favorite child, I plan to have loads of copies of my first fantasy novel, Wanderer, on hand. That is usually the title that comes to mind if I have to pick a favorite. It is the introduction to my fantasy universe, Orana, and has two completed story arcs in one book. What more could you want?

What else would you like everyone to know about your wares? My novels have strong found family vibes, heroines that save themselves, and a lot of humor mixed in with the fantasy and supernatural elements. They are not spicy, so if that is your kind of fantasy novel…well, that’s not me. 🙂 They are classified, I think, as new adult, but would be suitable for older YA readers and up. My Clobberpaws and Proud Racer series (the dog books) are both YA and could be enjoyed by middle grades and up, I think.

What’s your favorite holiday story? Love Actually. My husband is British, and there is a lot in that movie that speaks to our life. It’s just so good!
