Welcome to The Geekery Market (formerly the Muggles Market). We are excited for our next event – just in time for all your geeky holiday shopping needs! As usual, we’ll be introducing you all to our artisans/authors/artists, sponsors, and activities for the Market every week as we get closer to the big day.
Please allow me to introduce to you one of our new artisians, Leveled Up Geek. Cat McGill transforms geeky things into handmade jewelry and decor!
Answers to our 5 Geeky Questions
Tell us about the geeky goodness you’ll be bringing to the next Geekery Market! I make geeky statement piece earrings and ear cuffs for everyone to enjoy. My current collections include celestial, dice, botanical, and dinosaur themes (with other bonus fun geeky interests coming too!)
How did you get started doing what you do? I’ve been making jewelry for 20 years, but five years ago I started making pieces that appealed to my geeky side as I grew more bold at expressing it. I decided I wanted the mission of my business to be all about helping people wear what excites them and shows what they’re passionate about. It’s brought me so much happiness!
What’s an item you are bringing that you are really excited about? My dinosaur skeleton earrings make me smile every time I make them. I’ve seen a lot of people be so excited when they get them. They’re so elegantly nerdy.
What else would you like everyone to know about your wares? I strive to make my earrings and cuffs accessible to everyone. That includes using hypoallergenic nickel-free metal, having cuffs that don’t require any piercings, and keeping my prices reasonable. I have also worked with people in the past to modify a design to make it wearable for them (sensory issues, changing the type of closure, etc).
What’s your favorite holiday story? Muppet Christmas Carol, hands down!.
