The Geekery Market Spotlight: Christine Brunson

Welcome to The Geekery Market (formerly the Muggles Market). We are excited for our next event – just in time for all your geeky holiday shopping needs! As usual, we’ll be introducing you all to our artisans/authors/artists, sponsors, and activities for the Market every week as we get closer to the big day.

Please allow me to introduce to you one of our artisans, Christine Brunson. When not working on art and comics, Christine can be found creating domino art with her son, dodging her cat’s attacks, discussing video game lore with her husband, and trying to figure out if she is the good or evil twin.

Answers to our 5 Geeky Questions

Tell us about the geeky goodness you’ll be bringing to the next Geekery Market! I will be bringing some of my “Undead Norm” and “Bittersweet Sentinels” comics as well as many other creations with my artwork on them. These trinkets include art prints, stickers, keychains, magnets, pins, and earrings! If you prefer traditional art, I will have some available on sketchcards, blank variant sketchcover comics, and various-sized paper. I will be taking art commissions before and during the event as well. If you have a hard time deciding, I will have some mystery lucky boxes that have various stickers, buttons, and sketchcards in them.

How did you get started doing what you do? I have always loved storytelling through writing and drawing so I was enchanted when I read a Fantastic Four comic for the first time! Over the years my love for comics grew but it wasn’t until 2012 that I made my debut as co-creator, writer, and colorist for the webcomic Undead Norm. Since then, I have been bringing my comics and artwork to conventions and events all around the South East!

What’s an item you are bringing that you are really excited about? I love all of my creations but one of the new items I am really excited about is the new earrings! I love seeing my art as acrylic and wooden charms that dangle from their hooks! The “rawr” dinosaur ones are my favorites.

What else would you like everyone to know about your wares? My artwork and comics come from my deep love for many different genres. You will find a wide range of subjects like magical girls, zombies, mermaids, witches, dinosaurs, vampires, pastries, and animals! You can find stuff inspired by many different fandoms including Marvel, DC, My Hero Academia, Sailor Moon, and Mario Bros.

What’s your favorite holiday story? As a child, I always loved Rudolph but as an adult, I love The Muppet Christmas Carol!
