We are excited to announce the return of the Muggles Market, just in time for Valentine’s Day! This year’s theme is Muggles Market: Love and Plunder, combining our adoration of pirates and love. As usual, you have a wonderful opportunity to get to know our artists, writers, artisans, and entertainment through our Muggles Market Spotlights.
Brian Coggin of Lofty Crow Studio is a new artisan with our Muggles Markets. We asked them a few questions about their life, work, and what treasures they’ll be bringing to Muggles Market: Love and Plunder.
Please tell us all about the plunder you’ll be bringing to Muggles Market.
I am bringing paintings and prints of of whimsical creatures, Marvel inspired corner box reliefs, vintage Warhammer gaming figures (tons to plunder), and much more!
How did you get started making your glorious plunder?
“In 1971 I was born, soon thereafter I became bored…”
An artist at heart, I earned my BFA with a concentration in Sculpture. Naturally I worked in the corporate world for way too many years, and have just recently come back to the wonderful world of art!
What’s an item you are bringing that you are really excited about?
I’ll be speed painting everything from celebrity mash-ups to caricatures of you and your valentine!
Think Kate Bishop as Hermione, Dwight Schrute as MODOK or Jack Black as Iron Man. The possibilities are endless. I can paint you and yours as pirates on the The Black Pearl or whatever floats your boat.
What else would you like everyone to know about your wares?
My work comes from my neuro-divergent brain, with a heavy dose of humor!
What’s your favorite love or pirate story and why?
That one film, show, book where two people meet and they fall in love, then they have a problem and then it all works out in the end.
