2023 Muggles Market: Carey Potter

We are excited to announce the return of the Muggles Market, just in time for Valentine’s Day! This year’s theme is Muggles Market: Love and Plunder, combining our adoration of pirates and love. As usual, you have a wonderful opportunity to get to know our artists, writers, artisans, and entertainment through our Muggles Market Spotlights.

Carey Simone of Carey Potter is a new artisan with our Muggles Markets. We asked Carey a few questions about their life, work, and what treasures they’ll be bringing to Muggles Market: Love and Plunder

Please tell us all about the plunder you’ll be bringing to Muggles Market.

I will be bringing my handmade pottery including Harry Potter inspired Butterbeer Steins, bowls, trinket dishes, potion bottles, and spoons. I’ll also have Love and Plunder themed noodle bowls, mugs, plates, and vases.

How did you get started making your glorious plunder?

I went to school for art education, and fell in love with ceramics there. Since then I have been doing ceramics on and off for about 10 years, until recently when I started my business and gave it my all.

What’s an item you are bringing that you are really excited about?

Harry Potter EVERYTHING! I love making Harry Potter inspired pieces so I will continue making as many as I can!

What else would you like everyone to know about your wares?

Almost everything I make is dishwasher, and microwave safe, which means easy clean-up or re-heat after a delicious snack.

What’s your favorite love or pirate story and why?

It has to be my own, because my wife and I came from such different worlds and still were able to find each other. We also continually grow with each other and only make one another better.
