Welcome to our Geekery Market spotlight today! Today we're shining the spotlight on a long time friend and returning artisan, Moments in Tea!
What Else You Should Know About Them:
Describe all the geeky goodness you'll be bringing to the next Geekery Market! What kind of items will you be selling?
Fancy a good cuppa while you’re gaming or reading? We can help with that. We know that geeks of all ages enjoy a good cup of tea. For that reason, Moments In Tea offers a thoughtfully curated selection of fine looseleaf teas and herbals, sourced from all over the world. Together with infusers and looseleaf filters to make your own tea bag. We also offer themed mugs for gaming and science fiction and for Writers. We distribute a Tea Dueling card game. Now that EJ is a published author, we’ll have a book for sale, as well. Tea and Gaming. Tea and Reading. What does your Moment In Tea look like?
What is something that surprised you about making / selling your wares?
We were surprised to learn that Tea comes from one plant: Camellia Sinensis, and we were delighted to learn that that does not limit Tea in the least: there are hundreds of varietals. And that doesn’t even count all the herbals, like Rooibos and chamomile and various blends that we all call tea, but they’re really infusions or the French word tisanes. Just imagine!: Like Wine, Tea comes in many different taste profiles from all over the world. Depending on how it is harvested and processed – terroir – you can get many different types of tea.
What has been one of your favorite stories so far while running your business?
Wow. We’re still kind of reeling about: In 2014, we were invited to be part of a Celebrity Gifting Suite the day before the Golden Globes awards in Los Angeles! We met a wide variety of performers from television and movies. Just to name a few: Claudia Christian, Edward Asner, Mark Ryan, Jennifer Blanc-Biehn, Edie McClurg, Jim Piddock, Kevin Dobson, Maree Cheatham, Savannah Jayde, Russell Pitts, Christopher Cousins, and we mustn’t forget Todd Sherry! We had a fabulous time meeting them, letting them sample our wares, and gifting them with some of our teas.
What is an interesting fact about your wares / business that you want to make sure everyone knows?
We believe tea is a personal experience to be enjoyed socially or by yourself. As curators, we don’t make our own blends; we like to search out teas and herbals to share with folks. We hope that people will take time to unplug, relax, and enjoy a good cuppa.
Looking over the list of artisans this year, what is one of the booths you are looking forward to visiting?
Only one? Of course: Space Wizard Science Fantasy, the publisher of EJ’s first book. Can we also say Creating with the Girls, quilter? And Wayward Stitches! Okay, we’ll stop adding.
Come see them live at The Geekery Market on Saturday, November 15, 2025 from 10am to 4PM at the Cabarrus Arena & Events Center – 4751 NC Highway 49 (Event Center B).
