Geeks Get Stuff Done – 2026 Partnership Award

The Charlotte Geeks were recently honored with a Food Drive Partner Award at the Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina 2026 Partner Appreciation Awards Luncheon.  The Geekery Market has been collecting food donations for Second Harvest since 2017, and as of this writing have donated the equivalent of over 79,059 pounds of food. The award was one of 17 given out to 30 local and national organizations. Attending on behalf of our group were our Geekery Market event organizers:  Carol Cowles, Wanda Harward, Matt Starnes and Joey Starnes.

Kay Carter, CEO of Second Harvest, proudly declared that our partnership was responsible for “Proving what all of us already know: Geeks get stuff done!”

Almost 493,000 of the people served by Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina live in poverty – including over 153,300 children and 73,000 seniors. The Food Bank serves over 950 non-profit partners in 24 counties throughout North and South Carolina. Recipients include soup kitchens, emergency pantries, homeless shelters, senior programs, low-income daycares, veteran assistance organizations, and animal rescues. Of course, no matter how much we donate, the need continues on.

We are humbled by the recognition, and are proud to announce that we will continue to partner with Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina in 2026 to help fight hunger.
