Every November, libraries across the globe come together to celebrate International Games Month, and Charlotte Mecklenburg Library is no exception. This year, CML is rolling out an exciting array of activities designed to engage the community, foster connections, and promote the joy of gaming.
International Games Month is an initiative aimed at connecting communities to each other through their libraries. At the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library, the month-long celebration features a diverse lineup of events that cater to all ages and interests.
Throughout November, visitors can participate in various gaming events, including Family Chess Club at Mint Hill, Words & Waffles: Wordle at Independence Regional, a Cozy Gaming Cafe at Steele Creek, Pokémon Library League at Allegra Westbrooks, I Should Have Known That! Trivia at South Boulevard, a Spades Tournament at Sugar Creek and so much more! Each event during International Games Month is designed to be inclusive, welcoming everyone from seasoned gamers to those who have never picked up a set of dice. Games in all formats will be available, so whether you are joining in virtually or in-person, you’ll be able to celebrate with others!
One of the highlights of this year’s International Games Month is Game Night at the Library. Potions & Pixels, a local nonprofit, is partnering with the Library to bring an exciting after-hours event open to all ages! Join your community at the University City Regional branch on November 8th from 6:00-9:00PM for a fun night of competition. Show off your moves in Smash Brothers, laugh with your friends while playing Jackbox, or even get active through Johann Sebastian Joust, an exciting new music game. This event is fully catered for all attendees, so make sure you stop by for some food and fun!
International Games Month at Charlotte Mecklenburg Library is more than just a celebration of games; it’s a celebration of community, creativity, and connection.
