What Else You Should Know About Them:
What kind of geeky goodness will you be bringing with you to the next Geekery Market?
We're bringing kids and adults Sailor Scout skirts (and the adult skirts have POCKETS!) so you can be appropriately attired to fight evil by moonlight, and win yourself some love by daylight for your fabulous outfit. There will be kids princess play skirts (machine washable!), and princess yarn hair to go with the skirts and complete the costume. There will also be fandom inspired hats, bows, dice bags, headbands, bowties, decals, nap mats, and quilts for your little to sleep soundly in style. We have a small selection of handmade holiday gnomes, crochet dragons, mouse ears (for your big trip to see THE Mouse), kids and adult clothing, and accessories.
What's an item you are bringing that you are really excited about?
Our new item: the adult crochet dragon! They are so snuggly and soft, and just perfect.
What was the first item you ever made? How did you learn to make it?
Cass started her sewing journey at age 5 by making doll clothes with her grandmother. (Let's face it, it was mostly Grandma, but she helped!) Her first solo item was a shirt for Zak to wear to the renaissance festival years later... and it was bad. So, so bad. You know what they say, 10,000 hours of practice makes you an expert, and over 10 years later, her skills have improved. Zak is a self-taught graphic designer with several years of print shop experience under his belt. He's been a cosplayer since the early 2000s, using tools and odd materials at hand. Give him a computer and a Cricut, let his imagination go, and decals that make him laugh roll off the line.
What else would you like everyone to know about your wares?
We make things that make us happy and that we would want to wear or use, with the goal of making others happy as well. We love seeing our products out in the wild being loved and used by others, Also, what you see isn't necessarily all of what you get. We also take commissions! If you don't see what you love, reach out to us and we can talk about how to make it happen.
If you could travel anywhere in space or time, real or imagined, where would you want to go?
Cass: Real place would be 1591 London to see an original stage production of Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew" (I have questions...), but a fictional place would be Tolkien's Shire during The Hobbit. Zak finds himself paralyzed with choice, but not necessarily in the good way. He'd ride a dragon through the skies of Pern, but political intrigue or fighting Thread are hazardous. The future has always been enticing, but too much of cyberpunk dystopias smudges the sheen of technological marvels and an ever-expanding Cyberspace. As for a real place...there's a series of natural hot springs in Japan, about an hour's hike from the university where he studied abroad, out in the mountain woods. There are five different pools, from 'turns you into shabu shabu' all the way down to 'Lake Michigan in winter.' That's a place to return to.
