We are excited to announce the return of the Muggles Market, just in time for Valentine’s Day! This year’s theme is Muggles Market: Love and Plunder, combining our adoration of pirates and love. As usual, you have a wonderful opportunity to get to know our artists, writers, artisans, and entertainment through our Muggles Market Spotlights.
Laura Stinson of FairyNerdy is another long time friend and artisan with our Muggles Markets. We asked Laura a few questions about their life, work, and what treasures they’ll be bringing to Muggles Market: Love and Plunder.
Please tell us all about the plunder you’ll be bringing to Muggles Market.
I’ll be bringing lots of booty for plundering! First and foremost, enough stickers to fill any pirate’s chest! I’ll also have some shiny enamel pins to adorn your frock coat and some charming necklaces to complete your ensemble. New this year, I’ll be bringing a couple of especially nerdy t-shirt designs to order.
How did you get started making your glorious plunder?
I’ve been artistic since I was a wee buccaneer. Eventually, my creations started to outgrow my storage space, so it was time to find them other loving homes. I like to challenge myself, so I often experiment with new techniques and products to see what really works for me. That’s how I discovered sticker making and enamel pin design.
What’s an item you are bringing that you are really excited about?
I’m excited to introduce my shirts into my in-person events, but also, I’ve made a LOT of new designs since the last Muggles Market. I’m anxious for everyone to see what’s new.
What else would you like everyone to know about your wares?
FairyNerdy is a disabled-woman-owned business and a solopreneur venture. All the products are designed and/or created by me.
What’s your favorite love or pirate story and why?
My favorite pirate love story is the one between Captain Jack Sparrow and the rum. You can really feel how much he misses that rum.
