The Results Are In: Second Harvest Food Drive

Thank you to everyone who brought a canned good or donated cash to our food drive at our 2023 Muggles Market: Love and Plunder. We dropped off our items to Second Harvest Food Bank of the Metrolinas on Monday morning, and we tipped the scale at 952 lbs. In addition, $1,471 in cash was also donated. Second Harvest estimates that for every dollar donated, the food bank can distribute over 7 pounds of food. So with our food and cash donations combined, we were able to donate 11,249 pounds of food. This blew our 2020 donation of 4,360 pounds out of the water! We are beyond thrilled.

This also means that since we started our partnership in 2017, we have successfully donated over 21,550 pounds of food to our friends and neighbors our Metrolina community. We are honored to be such a small part of the amazing work that Second Harvest does for the 950 partner agencies in the 24 counties throughout North and South Carolina.

A huge shout out to our entire Muggles Market family: our amazing volunteers, artisans, authors, artists, performers, and amazing attendees who show up and donate so generously. And especially, to my amazing co-organizers (aka the Merry Mayhem) Wanda Harward, Carol Cowles; and my patient husband, Matt Starnes, for allowing and supporting all our mayhem, chaos, stress, and letting so many boxes and deliveries invade our Geekhaven home.

We love you crazy nerds!
