We are excited to announce the return of the Muggles Market, just in time for Valentine’s Day! This year’s theme is Muggles Market: Love and Plunder, combining our adoration of pirates and love. As usual, you have a wonderful opportunity to get to know our artists, writers, artisans, and entertainment through our Muggles Market Spotlights.
Katherine Hinnant of Kitschy Kat’s is a new participant in our Muggles Markets. We asked Katherine a few questions about their life, work, and what treasures they’ll be bringing to Muggles Market: Love and Plunder.
Please tell us all about the plunder you’ll be bringing to Muggles Market.
I make all sorts of cool, book and film inspired custom jewelry pieces, from resin, Perler beads and charms, as well as crowns, headbands, bookmarks and the occasional Dragon Egg.
How did you get started making your glorious plunder?
I started making Perler beads with my son, and jewelry for myself to wear. People were always complimenting my pieces when I wore them, so I decided to give selling them a shot about a year and a half ago.
What’s an item you are bringing that you are really excited about?
My Ear Cuffs. Those are my favorite things to make and each one is unique, and literally anyone can wear them, and show off their favorite characters or their own personality.
What else would you like everyone to know about your wares?
That every piece is made with love, joy, and hopes that they bring confidence and joy to the wearer.
What’s your favorite love or pirate story and why?
Beauty and the Beast. It’s all about getting to know one another and compromising to be be better partners for one another.
