As usual, you have a wonderful opportunity to get to know our artists, writers, artisans, and entertainment through our Muggles Market Spotlights.
Maya Barbery of Angel’s Mystical Artifacts is a new artisan with our Muggles Markets. We asked them a few questions about their life, work, and what treasures they’ll be bringing to Muggles Market: Love and Plunder
Please tell us all about the plunder you’ll be bringing to Muggles Market.
I’ll bring handcrafted metaphysical candles, soaps, and bath salts. I also have spell jars in a variety of forms, as well as crystals, handmade notebooks, and other altar supplies.
How did you get started making your glorious plunder?
It all started when I decided to make my own candles many years ago. I loved making my own adding intentions to them. Same with my spell jars and other items. One day, when thinking about a business I would like doing, it immediately dawned on me to share my love for candles with others. The items offered soon grew to three then four and now a wide array of handmade items.
What’s an item you are bringing that you are really excited about?
I have to pick two. My handmade intention candles that are infused with herbs, flowers, and crystals. I enjoy making these so much. Then from Bolivia I brought handmade mini journals /notebooks that you can easily keep in a purse or pocket. They are absolutely adorable.
What else would you like everyone to know about your wares?
I take great care to ensure each of the items is made with the best ingredients. I make everything in small batches. For items that I got from Bolivia (where I am originally from), I worked with amazing artisan women. I want to make sure to offer the best quality items I can.
What’s your favorite love or pirate story and why?
My favorite love story – Is also my favorite film: The Bridges of Madison County. I saw it over 20 years ago. The passion and joy that happened in 4 days lasted a lifetime. It made me think that life is a collection of those amazing moments that carry you through the less amazing times. I also love how through reading her journals the son & daughter realize they too should live in those moments of Joy.
