Muggles Market Spotlight: Thirty Seven Stars Crochet

Welcome to another Muggles Market Spotlight for 2018! Today, we are delighted to announce the return of Thirty Seven Stars Crochet to our third annual Muggles Market at this year’s Geek Gala. Laura Stubbs took a few minutes to answer some questions about her business and general geekery.

  • What items are you bringing to the Muggles Market this year?
I’m bringing all kinds of crochet figures and accessories with inspirations from television, movies, plants, animals, and foods. They are adorable, and super cuddly!

  • What was one of your favorite things from the Muggles Market or Geek Gala last year?
I missed last year due to a schedule conflict, but I was there the first year! I loved the enthusiasm of all the attendees! The energy was fantastic!

  • What is something on your ‘bucket list’ you would like to do or try?
My crafting bucket list and my life bucket list are equally long. I want to make ALL THE THINGS and travel ALL THE PLACES – preferably traveling while making things! Within the next year, I’m hoping to add giant 3+ foot crochet animals to my collection, and travel to at least three new places.

  • Who is someone that has been inspirational for you or mentored you in your craft?
I’m so inspired by everyone that I meet at conventions and markets. To constantly put yourself out there and sell your art (which is basically selling pieces of your soul) is hard work. Knowing I’m not alone in it helps keep me going!

  • So this year’s Geek Gala theme is “Gears and Ghouls”, and focuses on steampunk and day of the dead cosplay. If you could have one body part cybernetically enhanced or replaced, what would you choose, how would you want it changed, and why?
My hands/wrists would benefit so much from being cybernetically enhanced! I have carpal tunnel in both wrists from crocheting all day, so to be able to have that mechanized would definitely help with the pain and probably speed up the process as well!
  • And make plans to come visit them on Saturday, November 3 at this year’s Geek Gala
