Welcome to another Muggles Market Spotlight for 2017! Today, we are delighted to announce the addition of new artisan Little Knitting Noodle to our second annual Muggles’ Market at this year’s Geek Gala. Joanna Desante took a few minutes to answer some questions about her business and general geekery.
I will be selling handmade amigurumi and other assorted knitted and crocheted goods inspired by popular geek culture.
My grandmother taught me to knit during my first year of college to keep my hands busy between classes (at least when they weren’t falling off from insane amounts of essays and papers). I started learning more advanced techniques from YouTube and online tutorials. Eventually a friend inspired me to start making and selling character dolls, and I started attending conventions regularly.
I really love designs that inspire me to think outside the box and look for cool, unusual materials to incorporate into my dolls. So far one of my favourite projects to work on is actually one I’m currently working on right now. I’ve been designing mermaid amigurumi with posable tails. I really love this project because of all the custom little details I can add.
I’m a coffee addicted bibliophile with a knack for crafting. I’ve always really loved the convention environment and I draw a lot of inspiration from it. When I’m not crafting, I am a part-time barista.
Please don’t judge me too harshly – but I’m not a huge Godzilla fan. I know next to nothing of the franchise haha.
