Welcome to the Muggles Market Spotlight for 2019! Today, we are delighted to announce new artisan Leluna Star for our fifth Muggles Market at this year’s Geek Gala! Leah Mancini (“but almost everyone calls me Lilu”) took a few minutes to answer some questions about her business and general geekery. Lilu was born and raised in a small town in upstate New York called Tivoli, but now works, lives, and plays in Cary North Carolina.
- What kinds of items will you be selling at this year’s Muggles Market? I create handmade items for children (and the young at heart) that inspire imagination and foster creativity. I create finger puppets, dress-up masks, bookmarks, key-chains, stuffed characters and more.
- Which sci fi universe would you love to visit and why? I would love to visit the Dr. Who universe….Time travel would be epic!
- What are your primary fandoms? I have to choose just one?? It is so hard for me to choose as I am inspired by characters that defy all odds…especially characters that inspire young girls that they can do anything they set their minds too. I love Hermoine from Harry Potter, Wonder Woman, even Black Widow. I love watching and reading about these characters all over again with my daughter now and watching them through her eyes.
- What movie are you looking forward to? To be completely honest, I had my son 9 months ago, so I feel a little out of the loop. However, all the down time has meant that I am re-watching the Marvel movies with my daughter. She asks a thousand questions a minute…but only because she is so into the story of it all. It is pretty amazing to be a part of her journey.
- This year’s Geek Gala theme is Geeky Tiki Slumber Party-o-Rama. With whom would you love to have a slumber party (fictional, real, living or dead)? If I was going to have a slumber party with anyone, I would have to get a rowdy group of female comedians like Tina Fey, Ali Wong, Phoebe Robinson, Kate McKinnon, Carol Burnett, Lucille Ball…make some fabulous food, open up some great wine and spend the night laughing away.
Check out their website at: Leluna Star.
And make plans to come visit them on Saturday, November 2 at this year’s Geek Gala!
