Welcome to the Muggles Market Spotlight for 2018! Today, we are delighted to announce the addition of new artisan Dreamscape Treasure to our third annual Muggles Market at this year’s Geek Gala. Jess Compton took a few minutes to answer some questions about her business and general geekery.
- What kinds of items will you be selling at this year’s Muggles Market?
I will be bringing dreamcatchers, runes, magnets, wands, totems, journals, jewelry, and various polymer clay items. - How did you first get started making these things?
I started mostly as a hobby and to decompress after work. I also was a Native American studies minor in college and fell in love with the folklore of some of the crafts. - What has been one of your favorite projects to work on?
It’s been a toss up between the dreamcatcher’s and the runes. I really enjoy the freedom and flexibility of the different mediums. - What else can you tell us about yourself?
I am a Registered Veterinary Technician in Durham NC. I primarily focus on dentistry and anesthesia, which can be really stressful at times but being able to throw myself into my art helps me to relax.
