Muggles Market Spotlight: Clark Collection PKE

Welcome to the Muggles Market Spotlight for 2018! Today, we are delighted to announce the addition of new artisan Clark Collection PKE to our third annual Muggles Market at this year’s Geek Gala. Pamela Clark  took a few minutes to answer some questions about the business she runs with her daughter, Katie Clark, and general geekery.

  • What kinds of items will you be selling at this year’s Muggles Market?
Pam is currently an Essential Oils Specialist, and we specialize in themed essential oil blends, with coordinating hand made organizers and tote bags. We are huge Harry Potter and Doctor
Who fans, and love all things geeky and nerdy.
  • How did you first get started making these things?
The sewing started because Katie wanted to make a cape for a cosplay. Pam used to sew when Katie and her sister were small, but hadn’t picked up thread and needle in 20 years or ‘sew’. The sewing bug bit Katie when she realized we could make things in her favorite comic book/tv/movie hero patterns.

In November of 2016, Pam’s dad got sick and had to have surgery. Growing up in Germany, holistic healing was something she’d always known about, but didn’t really KNOW about. During this same period, a co-worker’s husband was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. Pam started looking into healing support for both of them, and discovered this path towards using oils. There is so much conflicting information out on the web, she decided to enroll in Aromatherapy school, and is now a Certified Aromatherapist.

  • What has been one of your favorite projects to work on?
For Pam, it was definitely that original floor length, hooded cape. Seeing the joy in Katie’s eyes when she put it on the first time, and the excitement she felt, when she asked what we were going to sew next.

For Katie, it is making the essential oil wallets together with her mom.

  • What else can you tell us about yourself?
Pam works at a church full time. She recently received her certification in Aromatherapy in May, 2018.

Katie loves to travel as often as she can, and when she’s not doing that or working she’s usually playing video games.

  • So this year’s Geek Gala theme is “Gears and Ghouls” and focuses on steampunk and day of the dead cosplay. If you could have one body part cybernetically enhanced or replaced, what would you choose, how would you want it changed, and why?
Pam and Katie both choose objects that would liken them to fictional characters, because we’re both pretty silly in that way. Pam wants her eye replaced like Mad Eye Moody. Being able to see through things and in all directions would be awesome.

Katie would pick her left arm like her favorite video game character, McCree, from Overwatch. Nobody would try messing with her with an obviously metal arm, and from a cosplay perspective it’d be pretty funny if people thought it wasn’t real.

And make plans to come visit them on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at this year’s Geek Gala
