Welcome to the Muggles Market Spotlight for 2019! Today, we are delighted to announce the return of Celebrating the Light to our fifth Muggles Market at this year’s Geek Gala! Nancy Curl took a few minutes to answer some questions about her business and general geekery.
- What kinds of items will you be selling at this year’s Muggles Market? My passion is creating glass art that captures the light in such a way that creates beauty from all angles. My pieces include bowls, plates, wall hangings, candle holders, flower vases, wind chimes, light catchers, globes, and holiday ornaments, and more.
- Which sci fi universe would you love to visit and why? Rivendale, also known as Imladri, in Tolkien’s “Lord of the Rings”. The beauty of the waterfalls, forests, houses and terrain are reflected by the beauty of the Elves. Living surrounded by such beauty is most appealing for a glass artist!
- What movie are you looking forward to? I’m looking forward to seeing “Avengers: The End Game” soon. Love the action and characters. I have carefully avoided the spoilers.
- This year’s Geek Gala theme is Geeky Tiki Slumber Party-o-Rama. With whom would you love to have a slumber party (fictional, real, living or dead)? My most desired slumber party pals would be Louise Penny (author of the series of books set in Three Pines) and all the characters she has created in her stories. I would love to stay up all night being part of their world…looking at Clara’s art, eating croissants from the bakery, listening to Inspector Gamache read poetry, hearing about Myrna’s bookshop, meeting Ruth Zardo’s duck, Rosa, while Ruth tells us how “FINE” (fuc** up, insecure, neurotic and egotistical) we all are. What a night that would be.
