Well folks – it’s about that time! Tomorrow, we start setting up the Muggles Market venue. Saturday, November 2 is THE DAY! We’re looking forward to seeing you there!
Here are some additional activities, guests, and entertainment that we didn’t manage to cover in previous Muggles Market and Geek Gala articles.
SCA! Happy Potter Alliance! Art!
Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA)
SCA Members from The Barony of the Sacred Stone, canton of Charlesbury Crossing will be on site, providing demonstrations of medieval arts, crafts, and fighting. The Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) is an international non-profit volunteer educational organization. The SCA is devoted to the research and re-creation of pre-seventeenth century skills, arts, combat, culture, and employing knowledge of history to enrich the lives of participants through events, demonstrations, and other educational presentations and activities.
Muggles Art Shop
The Gallery of Artistry for Every Geeky Home!
As part of our Muggles Market, we are also excited to announce the return of our Muggles Art Shop (formerly the Artist Wallway)! Hand-selected local artists will again be displaying their original art and prints for sale in our Muggles Market lobby! A small portion of all sales will go directly towards the cost of running the Geek Gala, with the remainder going to support the local artists themselves.
Queen City Harry Potter Alliance – with special guests Miss Capital City 2017 and Miss Gaston County 2019!
The Queen City Chapter of the Harry Potter Alliance will be assisting at the Muggles Market with the food drive for Second Harvest Food Bank.
The Alliance consists of passionate fans who want to make a difference in the world. Inspired by the heroics of Harry Potter, the wisdom of Albus Dumbledore, and the courage of so many fantastical heroes, the Queen City HPA is a place for fans to come together to solve real world problems and become like the heroes they admire. Their goal is to improve the community through enthusiasm for fantasy literature and the heroes within them that strive to make the world a better place. They may not battle dragons or dark lords, but they embody a spark, a hope to make things a little better through fostering empowerment, acceptance, creativity, and courage within the community.
Joining QCHPA will be Logan Freeman, Miss Capital City 2017 and Mandy Rogers, Miss Gaston County 2019. Mandy’s title platform is ‘Reach for the Stars’, which is all about empowering young women. Logan is now on a mentoring committee. Both are (or have) volunteered at the Muggles Market and are huge Harry Potter fans!
And that’s a wrap for our pre-Gala and pre- Muggles Market articles. We’ll see you in just TWO DAYS on November 2 at the Muggles Market and Geek Gala. Gala tickets are still available, so get yours here right now!
