
Hello, fellow geeks! We are excited to announce our third annual flash fiction 36-hour story-writing contest! We invite every wannabe writer out there to try their hand at this task. You will be given 36 hours to write a flash fiction mini short story (1000 words or less). The 36 hour period will begin once the topic has been announced and posted on this website. We plan to post the topic right before 9am on Friday, September 22nd.
Here are the rules:
- You will have 36 hours to write a flash fiction mini-short story (1,000 words or less). The 36 hour period begins based once the topic has been announced and posted on this website. We plan to post the topic right before 9 AM on Friday, September 22nd.
- The short story must utilize the posted topic and be an original, unpublished work.
- Please observe the 1,000 word limit.
- Stories must be submitted in Word or PDF format (or equivalent, readable documents) and emailed to [email protected]
- Please do not post your short story elsewhere until after the judging is complete and the winners announced!
- Participants agree to have their work potentially published in a small anthology to benefit the Geek Gala operating costs. (Participants retain all other rights.)
- The winner will have their short story read on the Guardians of the Geekery podcast, published on this website, and will receive one ticket for this year’s Geek Gala – Oct 21!
- All decisions of the judges are final.
