We are pleased to announce that our charity for 2019 is once again The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. All raffle ticket sales from the 2019 Geek Gala are directly donated to the organization, along with any other designated donations made through The Charlotte Geeks, Geek Gala, or Guardians of the Geekery.

We are so excited to announce that in 2018 we were able to donate $2,631 to the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption! Thank you to everyone who gave!

Why an Adoption Charity? Well, It’s Personal

       Christina and I in 2005

Hi gang – Joey aka The Giddygeeker here.  My little sister Christina was adopted in to our family when she was 9 and I was 12.  I already had 3 older brothers, but I always wanted a little sister.  As an older foster child, she had been in the system for over 6 years and had to endure a series of challenges that formed a big part of her personality, her insecurities, and ultimately influenced the circumstances that led to her death in 2005.  But it doesn’t have to be that way.  Today, there are wonderful organizations that focus on providing those adoptive homes for kids who need them, and support for the adoptive families so they can provide the ultimate support and loving environment all children need and deserve.   I miss my sister every day, and am so grateful for The Charlotte Geeks for providing me with an opportunity to help others like Christina before it’s too late.

About The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption

The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption is driven by a single goal: finding a loving family for every child waiting in foster care to get adopted. They are America’s only national nonprofit charity dedicated solely to finding permanent homes for the more than 100,000 children in foster care.

Muggles Market Charity

The Muggles Market has adopted Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina as their charity and in lieu of admission, we ask that everyone donate a non-perishable item.

We were amazed and honored to have donated 1,191 lbs. of food since 2017!
