Navigating the Site

As you poke around the site, you’ll see we have fans for many different geekdoms. We created several groups representing general areas of interest. Within a group, you can start or join a forum discussing a particular topic, and group moderators will sometimes post general updates for all members to see. Most groups require you to request membership, but don’t worry, we won’t ask you trivia or challenge your geek status. We just want to be sure you’re genuinely interested in participating in that community. If you only signed up to post news about a local event, join the ”Local Events” group and post away. The other groups require moderator approval. This also enables us to put up a slim wall of privacy (more of a hedge, really) between you and unregistered users.

To change when you receive an email from the site, please visit [editnotifications].

If you have general questions about the The Charlotte Geeks, please mention our founder and geeky leader, Joey (type @giddygeeker in your comment). If you find glitches in the website or have suggestions for improvement, just mention @admin to make sure the Website Administrator is included on any discussion of site functionality or aesthetic.

You might want to take a moment to edit your [editprofilelink]. It’s a good way to tag some of your interests in various categories and see who might want to geek out with you. We know the included interests are far from all-inclusive, so feel free to comment on the Profile Groups forum in the All Charlotte Geeks group with suggested additions.

Be sure to join us on Meetup, too: http://www.meetup.com/The-Charlotte-Geeks/.
